File size (KB) — set for you by the form

Some forms reject a file that is too small, not only too big. If your photo becomes smaller than the minimum KB, we add harmless filler bytes to bring it into range (the picture does not change) and we tell you.

Photo size — pixels, millimetres and inches

35×45 mm at 300 DPI = 413×531 px.

Background colour (fill only — does not replace your photo background)

This fill shows only behind a transparent image or when you zoom out. It does not change the background of a normal photo. For a passport, please take your photo in front of the background colour your country asks for.

Photo rules that get forms rejected
  • Face too small, too big, or off-centre — use the guide overlay.
  • Shadows on the face or the wall behind you.
  • Head top or shoulders cut off by the crop.
  • Glasses glare, blur, beauty filters or edited photos.
  • Wrong background colour for that country or form.

  1. Choose your exam (SSC, IBPS, RRB, NEET, JEE) or your country (India, USA, UK, Schengen…). The pixel size and KB range fill in by themselves.
  2. Upload a photo — or a photo of your signature on plain white paper. Nothing leaves your device.
  3. Fit your face inside the green oval: drag to move, slide to zoom, eyes on the blue line, shoulders inside the frame.
  4. Check the KB turns green — the result shows your file inside the range (for example 38 KB inside 20–50 KB), checked against the real file.
  5. Download with one tap. Then do the signature the same way — photo and signature, both correct, in one visit.

Video transcript: the five steps above are exactly what the video shows, word for word — it also carries captions. The looping picture beside the steps needs no video file at all, and you never have to watch either to use the tool.

Right vs wrong — what gets photos rejected

Real example portraits made for teaching — not real applicants, and not proof any photo will be accepted. They show the six things checking officers and form software look for.

Correct passport photo example — face centred at the right size, head and shoulders visible, plain white background, even light with no shadows
CORRECTFace centred, right size
Wrong passport photo example — face too small in the frame, photographed from too far away with empty space all around
WRONGFace too small — zoom in
Wrong passport photo example — photographed too close, so the top of the head is cut off by the frame
WRONGToo big — head cut off
Wrong passport photo example — face pushed off-centre to one side instead of the middle of the frame
WRONGOff-centre — drag to middle
Wrong passport photo example — a hard shadow falling across one side of the face, with a shadow on the wall behind too
WRONGShadow on the face
Wrong passport photo example — busy colourful patterned background with shelves and objects where a plain light background is required

The face guide, on a real photo

This is what the tool draws over your photo in Step 3: the green oval your face should fill, the blue eye line, and the frame your head and shoulders must stay inside. There is no single worldwide number: US passport and visa photos use about 50–69%, Schengen 70–80%, India passport 80–85%, and NEET, JEE and CUET ask for about 80% — so the tool sets the exact share for the preset you picked and draws the guide to match it. Drag and zoom until it looks like this.

Before / after — same photo, right KB

A phone photo is usually megabytes. The tool resizes it to the exact pixels and lands the file inside the KB range the form asks for — here 38 KB inside 20–50 KB — and shows you the true size before you download.

Before resizing — a large phone photo of about 2.8 megabytes, too big for online exam and passport forms Before · ~2.8 MB
After resizing with PassportPhotoKB — the same photo at 413 by 531 pixels and 38 KB, inside the 20 to 50 KB range After · 38 KB ✓ in range
Your photo never leaves your phone

Every step runs inside your browser. Turn off Wi-Fi after this page loads and the tool still works — that is the proof nothing is uploaded.

Free means free

No signup, no watermark, no “pay to download” at the end. You do the work, you get the file.

Signature on white paper

Sign on plain white paper, photograph it flat in bright light, and use a Signature preset — each exam sets its own pixel size and KB range (for example IBPS 140×60 px inside 10–20 KB, NEET and JEE 10–100 KB), and the preset sets both for you.

All sizes in one place — passport, visa, exam photo and signature

Most forms need two files: a photo and a signature, each with its own size and KB range. Here both are one tap apart. Every size and KB range comes from the official rule and was last checked Oct 2026. If your form shows different numbers, you can type them in the tool.

Passport and visa photo maker (worldwide)

Official photo sizes for India, USA, UK, EU / Schengen, Canada, Australia, China, Japan and UAE. Each preset shows the face guide and the background rule on screen. Sizes are shown in pixels, millimetres and inches.

SSC photo and signature (India exam)

For SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS and GD forms. Photo: 20–50 KB. Signature: 10–20 KB. Make the photo first, then tap the signature button — same easy steps.

IBPS / bank photo and signature (India exam)

Official IBPS sizes: photo 200×230 px at 20–50 KB, signature 140×60 px at 10–20 KB, left thumb print 240×240 px at 20–50 KB, hand-written declaration 800×400 px at 50–100 KB. All four are in the tool.

Resize a photo to 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB

For job sites, school forms and ID uploads that set a maximum file size. Pick a ready KB range, or type any minimum and maximum. We place your file inside the range — not only below the top number.

Signature maker — 10–20 KB

Sign your name in black ink on plain white paper. Take a flat photo in bright light. We fit it to 140×60 px and the exact KB range your exam asks for — each Signature preset carries its own official range. Works for SSC, IBPS, RRB, NEET, JEE and CUET forms in India, and for any form that asks for the same size.

Exact KB range — the minimum matters too

Many forms reject a file that is too small. A clean photo can become 14 KB and fail a 20–50 KB form. We target the full range and, when needed, add harmless filler bytes so the file is accepted. The picture itself does not change.

Free — no paywall at the end

No sign-up. No watermark. No “pay to download”. You make the photo, you keep the file.

Your photo is never uploaded

All work happens on your device, in your web browser. Turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads — the tool still works. That is the proof.

Clear rules before you download

Each preset shows how large your face should be, where to place it, which background colour you need, and the common reasons photos are rejected (dark shadow, head cut off, glasses shine, filters).

Print at home or at a photo shop

Print sheet — 6×4 inch (15×10 cm), 300 DPI

We fill one sheet with as many copies as truly fit your photo size, at exact print size. A 2×2 inch photo fits 6 copies. A 35×45 mm photo fits 8 copies. We always show the true count.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, including the limits of what any photo tool can promise.

Which passport photo size should I choose?

Common sizes: India passport (ICAO rules from 1 Sep 2025) 630×810 px with a white background, USA 2×2 inch (600×600 px), UK digital at least 600×750 px, Schengen / EU and Japan 35×45mm (413×531 px at 300 DPI), Australia 35–40×45–50mm, Canada 50×70mm (commercial photographer required), China 33×48mm, UAE passport 40×60mm and Emirates ID 35×40mm. Always check your form's official rule — this tool crops, resizes and compresses your photo; final acceptance is the issuing authority's decision.

Why do forms ask for a KB range like 20–50KB instead of just a maximum?

Portals such as SSC and IBPS reject files that are too small as well as too large — a clean photo can compress below the 20KB minimum and still be refused. This tool aims inside the full range: it compresses to fit under the maximum, and if the file would fall below the minimum it pads the file with harmless filler bytes (the image itself is unchanged) and tells you it did so.

How do I resize a signature for an exam form?

Open the Signature tab (for example IBPS Signature): upload a photo of your signature on plain white paper, and download it at 140×60 px inside 10–20KB. Use the zoom slider and drag the preview if the signature looks too small or too big.

Is my photo safe? Where is it uploaded?

It is never uploaded or stored. All photo and signature processing happens locally in your browser using the File API and canvas — you can even switch off Wi-Fi after the page loads and it still works. Only your last size preset is remembered on your own device, if your browser allows it. Like any hosted website, the web host may keep standard server logs at the hosting level.

How many copies fit on the 6×4 inch print sheet?

It depends on the photo size, and the sheet always shows the true count for your preset — for example 8 copies of 35×45mm photos, or 6 copies of USA 2×2 inch photos — printed at the correct physical size at 300 DPI. Print at 100% (no fit-to-page) on glossy photo paper, then cut along the dotted lines.

Does this tool guarantee my photo will be accepted?

No tool can honestly guarantee that. PassportPhotoKB formats your photo to the published size, pixel and KB specifications and guides you on face position and background, but final acceptance is always the issuing authority's decision. For strict passports (India, US, UK, Australia), use an original, unedited photo — authorities reject digitally altered or AI-edited photos.

Important: PassportPhotoKB is an independent tool. It is not a government website and is not linked to any passport office, visa office or exam board. We set your photo or signature to the official pixel size and KB range. Rules can change, so always check the latest official rule for your form. Final acceptance is always the decision of the issuing authority. For a passport, please use an original, unedited photo — this tool only crops and resizes. It does not retouch or change your face.
